Salem-Keizer CDC PROGRAMS:

RESIDENT SERVICES: Salem Keizer CDC's Resident Services Program supports families and individuals living in our housing. We offer an opportunity to better access to community services, skill building workshops, a resident newsletter, and activities for Salem Keizer CDC's youth and adult residents. The majority of Salem Keizer CDC residents earn less than 60% of the area median income--that is $34,080 or less for a family of four.

Specific activities of the Resident Services program include:

ADULT ACTIVITIES:

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM: This is a citizen organized and maintained program within neighborhoods to prevent crime. It is initiated by neighbors with the assistance of the Community Support Unit of the Salem Police Department. Neighborhood associations sometimes serve as the primary catalyst or recruiting source to see that Neighborhood Watch succeeds in our complex/area.

HEALTH CLUB: Good nutrition, healthy eating and physical activity are essential for good health, energy and learning. Unfortunately, too many Oregonians have poor eating habits and are not active enough. Inactivity and poor choices contribute to obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Poor eating and physical inactivity combined are the 2nd preventable cause of death in Oregon and the U.S., only tobacco kills more people. Our Health Club brings resources to help our residents/participants to make better food choices and an opportunity to become more active with our weekly TV exercise

YOUTH PROGRAMS:

SWIMMING - Every spring break we send 30 + (depending on budget) kids to participate at the YMCA Splash Spring Swimming program. This program focuses on water safety and swimming skills

SUMMER PROGRAM - We provide opportunities on site and off site for children to stay busy with activities designed to develop their creative and leadership skills.

HOLIDAY PARTY - Every December we organized a holiday party for the youth with fun activities, music, and food to celebrate the holidays.
